“HE HELPED ME LOSE 16KG WITHOUT GIVING UP BEER…”

Changing your body is hard, right? When you feel like you’re at the bottom of Mount Everest looking up, listening to guys like me preach on social media about health and transformation can almost turn you off.

And that’s why I wanted to come down off my high horse and share with you my personal story.

My story of being a failure; My story of feeling like crap and wanting to quit…

And what I did to change it all, forever…

It’s a story about how I am no different to you and despite what you see, how I face the same mental battles.

This is the true origin of my program and why I feel it’s my mission in life to coach what I have learned.

Salt and Vinegar Roasted Chickpeas

When you have nothing at the ready and a hunger kicks in, you snack right? The problem is that often for blokes trying to manage their weight, it's their snacks that let them down. They grab for quick convenient foods often not knowing that they are high sugar, high fat and thus high calorie.

With a little bit of preparation however, you can prepare excellent snacks at home and take them to work so you have them ready when the hunger kicks in. These Salt and Vinegar Roasted Chickpeas are an example of that.

Home-Made Hummus + Pita Wraps

When I am sitting down to a Sunday beer or just relaxing with mates, I've got a go-to snack that the lads love. They're happy to rip me about it - "Jase, mate let's just gets some chips or some crackers and cheese"

But when I blend up this simple, little dip and throw it on the table with some pita bread and green olives, the troops dive in!

Home-Made Nut Granola

As we come into summer, we start to move away from hot breakfasts. I always find my hunger drops when it's hot and that's the main reason I tend to be leanest at that festive end of the year! That's despite the beers!

So rather than egg-based breakfasts, I love moving toward cold options like chia bowls or granola and yoghurt. Yet the issue is that many commercial options are loaded with refined sugar and are not that healthy.

With that in mind, I've put together an awesome, tasty and simple Home-Made Nut Granola recipe just in time for summer.

Banana Pancakes

If you like pancakes, this recipe is your friend. It makes delicious, tender and fluffy pancakes and takes only minutes to make.

My favourite topping is a drizzle of maple syrup and a tonne of sliced strawberries. And if you want to get fancy, a sprinkle of muesli, coconut and cacao sends the taste and sexiness through the roof.

Easy Green Smoothie

Smoothie's have become the rage for healthy types but are they really healthy? Well, the short answer is 'yes' but it is absolutely conditional on how you make them. Firstly, the primary ingredients of your smoothie need to be vegetables. Veggies contain loads of fibre, vitamins and water and not much sugar. As such, they are not as calorie-dense as smoothies based on fruit.

Second, you need to make the smoothie up on a low-calorie liquid like coconut water or even plain water. Adding juices or full-cream milk will send the caloric density through the roof. Of course there will be plenty of nutrition in the smoothie but from a caloric point of view, you may as well be drinking Coke.

Baked Salmon and Stir Fry Green

If you live in a small apartment, cooking fish can be a pain in the butt. It’ll leave your house smelling like a co-op and your clothes smelling even worse!

Baking salmon instead of grilling it on the hotplate is the answer. No smoke, no smells, grand taste!

BUT, remember this little tip! Once the fillet is cooked evenly through at about 180-200 degrees (usually 12-15 mins), flick the knob around to grill on high. After two mins, flip the fillet over and give it the same time on the reverse side. This will both crisp up the skin and brown off the fillet and the result is delicious!

Pink fish like salmon and trout is super-high in Omega-3 healthy heart fats and lean protein. Whether you’re looking to pack on muscle or trim down on body fat, salmon with either a summer salad or some wintery veggies is the perfect plan!

Vietnamese Pho

Ok, if there is one thing I am addicted to right now, it's Vietnamese beef pho. This aromatic, bone broth soup has become super-popular in Western cultures because of its suggested health benefits. Me personally, pho bo is my go-to, cheap mid-week meal when I can't be bothered cooking.

Whereas Chinese food leaves you feeling average afterward because of its heaviness and grease, I love the fact that you can be completely pho-bloated yet two hours later, you're light as a feather.

This is not the meal to cook if you are in a hurry as a delicious pho is dependant on a patiently, slow-cooked base where the bones and spices have plenty of time to infuse the broth. So with a good few hours to spare while working, I decided to give my own pho bo a shot! Delicious!!
