Read MoreA few week's ago I had the pleasure of interviewing a really tough bloke. A bloke that I have known for 20 years but not spoken to in a while. It's funny hey, you're so busy dealing with your own shit that you just don't even comprehend how tough some other people have it and what battles they're facing.
Cliffy, my mate, is the perfect example of the private battles people face when on the surface, everything seems A-OK. According to statistics from Beyond Blue:
- 45% of people will experience a mental health condition in their lifetime;
- In any one year, around 1 million Australian adults have depression, and over 2 million have anxiety.
Suicide is the leading cause of death for Australians aged between 15 and 44, with around 2,500 people dying by suicide every year. That's 8 people EVERY day!
Depression, anxiety and suicide is non-discriminatory and affects people from different of age, gender, sexual preference, race and wealth groups. Perhaps this is the reasons why tacking the issue is such a massive challenge and one which clearly has a LONG way to go.
Read MoreI remember the first "bowl" I ever had was in Bali at the famous Nalu Bowls near Single Fin in Uluwatu. I'd always thought of these as kind of 'girly' but one taste got me hooked. I'd joined the "superfood rebellion". Haha! Not...
I've got to say, I don't really believe in the concept of superfoods being magic silver bullets to health as that little magazine in the Sunday paper may have you believe. I do however believe in nutrient density and the fact that some foods are just packed with goodness if you eat them in their rawest state.
The thing about acai, chia and other bowls is that in Australia, they cost you and arm and a leg to buy. Interestingly though, when you have the ingredients, they are super easy to make and the PERFECT anecdote for a hot summer day.
To demo what I mean, check out this simple recipe below...
Read MoreI'm planning a very big night tonight. Yep, it's 3pm and I am sitting at my laptop thinking about the year that's wrapping up. So before rushing off to crush loads of drinks, I wanted to spend a couple of hours to myself, collecting my thoughts and sharing them with whoever cares to read. And then... I shall drink!
So without further delay, enjoy my thoughts... ;)
Read MoreI'm often asked where I get the energy to wake at 5am every day. I'm told to 'spend more time relaxing' and less time in the gym. Yet on five days a week, I put myself through the pain of a workout for I know the returns.
It's hard for a non-lifter to understand the lessons learned in a gym. Yet if I could promise you one sure fire way to change your existence, it would be to expose yourself to these lessons. You learn a lot about your character when you are laying under 100kg of weight that resists your attempts to push it away.
Read MoreI just got off the phone to one of my best mates. He is one of the best because of how he makes me feel. He is loyal, truthful and so absolutely genuine all of the time. I love the bloke!
So this got me thinking about happiness. I think a lot about happiness and like most people, I go through periods of ups and downs. I do try my best not to resist what is and rather try to analyse why I feel like I do at that time.
Read MoreMaybe it’s the host of wellness bloggers that are coming out of the woodwork that’s driving it. Maybe it’s A Current Affair’s coverage of the latest fad diet night after night that gives it oxygen. But why is it that nutrition and lifestyle have become the domain of which everyone, qualified or not is an expert?
Read MoreFrom the moment my beautiful girl sent me this video link, I have been excited to write this short blog post. For me this is so beautiful yet so typical of the battle millions of men worldwide suffer when they live beyond their partner. Watch the vid and let me flick out to you the lessons I learned from it. They really struck a chord for me…
Read MoreAfter just returning from a Thai massage and then off the back of our recent visit to Thailand where I got ‘thousands’, I thought it a great idea to give you reason to treat yourself. It seems massage is one of the rare indulgences that brings pleasure across every age group, man and woman without a single drop of alcohol needing to be consumed to elicit the enjoyment. So without delay, let’s tuck in!

I certainly would not identify myself as a spiritual person. Well not until the last couple of years that is. It used to be that when it came to spiritualism, meditation and mindfulness, the idea of some hippy psychic gazing into a coffee cup and trying to make some worldly sense of her crema was all I could conjure up. For me, the concept of 'live every day like it's your last' had merit but was also an excuse for an individual to take no responsibility for their reckless behaviour in the present.
